NEVES BEACH RESIDENCE: Experimenting with symmetry

For this urban-beach hybrid residence, we prioritized symmetry to balance exterior views while ensuring privacy. Employing local techniques and materials kept costs low and fostered a harmonious relationship with the surroundings.

The layout distinguishes between a social open floor plan on the ground level and a more private upper floor, accommodating the owner's lifestyle split between beach and city living.

Centered around a blue tower, the design features a spine staircase flanked by volumes inspired by local beachfront architecture. These volumes hover above a white slab-like enclosure housing the ground-floor living spaces. The rear portion of the upper level curves without openings, enclosing an office and bedroom to shield against excessive sunlight from the west.
